MOTHERLODE PROVISIONS ACQUIRES NEW FACILITY, EXPANDS INTO CO-PACKING
50,000 sq. ft. facility offers co-packing services and tenant-occupied manufacturing units
 
 
Hudson, CO: Eight years after introducing its all-natural barbecue sauces, hot sauces, and Bloody Mary mix to Boulder-area retailers, Motherlode Provisions is expanding into the co-packing and private-labeling sectors with the purchase of the former Denver Plastics building at 560 Dahlia Street in Hudson, Colorado. At 50,000 square feet, the facility was purchased with the assistance of ACME Processing, LLC and will house Motherlode's hot-fill bottling lines, test kitchen, product testing lab, dry-ingredient batching room, ambient and refrigerated warehouse space, conference room, and administrative offices. Space will also be allocated for the buildout of several smaller, tenant-occupied manufacturing units. The company expects to be fully operational in May.
 
Says CEO Leland Oxley, "With the acquisition of the old Denver Plastics building, we have the opportunity to start from scratch and do everything right. We remember what it was like to be a young company. Our model is designed to help other companies, small and large, realize their visions."
 
Situated at the intersection of I-76 and State Hwy 52, Motherlode's new facility has eight dock doors and offers easy access to I-70, I-80, and I-25, simplifying product pickups by food and beverage distribution companies. In addition to SQF certification, Motherlode is working with Whole Brain Consulting to complete non-GMO, gluten-free, and organic certifications.  
 
In its own production area, Motherlode's co-packing focus will be on hot-fill products such as condiments, sauces, syrups, vinegars, and beverages. Tenant-occupied units within the larger facility will be outfitted with each tenant's specific manufacturing needs.
 
In addition to co-packing and private-labeling services, Motherlode will offer warehouse and pallet space rental (ambient and refrigerated) and new product development assistance.
 
Previously located in Longmont, Motherlode turned its sights to co-packing when it acquired investment funding and two key personnel: Greg Dennis, V.P. of Sales & Marketing, and Kit Maxfield, V.P. of New Business Development. Both joined Motherlode from a Midwest co-packing company, bringing more than twenty years of combined experience in the natural products industry.
